Demonstrations
Collingbourne Show - Sept 2010
The
Ducis and Everleigh Show this year was held on 11th September.
The weather on the morning of the show day certainly looked like it might
threaten the event and Mr Storton’s phone was red hot all morning with
students wondering if we would still be performing. However, as the late
morning and early afternoon wore on the grey skies were replaced by fluffy
clouds and blue skies, which remained for the afternoon, except for one
brief, sharp shower. Everyone involved played their part in producing a
slick demonstration that gave the audience a flavour of most aspects of
Taekwondo; fundamental movements, patterns, sparring, self defence and power
test. There was a lot to get in to the allocated duration, and everyone
needed to be ready for their particular part, such that the demonstration
ran seamlessly and on time. Daniel Healey’s split kick, Matt Stevenson’s
flying side kick, Dave Standidge and Steve Murphy’s breaks on
stacks
of tiles, Tyler, Emily and Matt’s various breaks on cinder blocks and Neil’s
fire break on 2 4 inch blocks all brought particular gasps of amazement from
the appreciative crowd. The feedback received at the Show, and subsequently,
has been very positive with many commenting on how much they enjoyed the
performance. Many thanks to all involved in this years spectacle: Mrs
Julyan, Daniel Healey, Neil Sanderson, Maisie Smith, Matt Stevenson, Dave
Standidige, Emily Kinchlea, Lorraine Ryall, Tyler Hiscock, Steve Murphy,
Matt Bates, Jack Beaumont, Harry Hiscock, Jess Meredith and Matt Baxter.
