March Seminar 2011 - Senior Master Taylor
Saturday 12th March saw the first Southern Counties Seminar & Grading of 2011 take place at Collingbourne Ducis Village Hall. Senior Master John Taylor from Wales was the visiting master and delivered an engaging seminar covering varied and interesting taekwondo topics, including fitness, stretching and muscle development as well as covering taekwondo movement and patterns. Now in his early 50’s, Master Taylor has maintained the incredible flexibility he developed as a junior gymnast and gave all attendees food for thought with some interesting and challenging stretching routines.
The more senior colourbelt members were able to enjoy a seminar lasting nearly 4 hours and finishing with a taste of the intensity of fitness training Master Taylor puts the members of the ITF Wales squad through during squad training. All in all, the seminar delivered on so many counts and we sincerely thank Senior Master Taylor for his time in delivering such an enjoyable seminar.
There was a short break in the seminar during which two members of our junior class were assessed for promotion to the next grade. It was the first time that Emily Kinchlea and Kiera Seabrook were to grade in front of a Master, so they were sure to be a little nervous. This was not evident though as they progressed through their grading requirements without major incident. Both had trained long and hard for this grading and were not going to let their nerves get in the way. After performing both their practical and theoretical elements, I was delighted to advise them that their hard work had paid off as Master Taylor had awarded them both promotion to 3rd Kup red tips. Well done Emily and Kiera – keep up the good work.
